ReadyDesk version 8.1 now available

ReadyDesk version 8.1 has been released and is available for download today. This latest version has some great new features like visitor tracking, external live chat, chat invites, pop-out layers, code signing, live chat translations and more.

Be sure and check out the new online demos and download the updated user manual.

Existing customers can download the latest version by logging in to their account from the home page of our website.

Below is a short list of some of the enhancements in this release:

  • Site Traffic Tracking: You can now track visitor traffic for any external web page directly within ReadyDesk in real time. See detailed information about visitors such as IP address, browser type, geographic location, visit history, referring page and more. All visitors are displayed on a map so you can get a quick overview of where they are located.

  • External Live Chat: Easily add a customizable live chat tab to any external web page, allowing visitors to initiate a chat session with your ReadyDesk technicians without having to log into a customer portal.

  • Invite to Chat: Combining traffic tracking and external chat you can manually send chat invites to visitors, or create workflow rules to define when and on what page to display the invitation pop-up in the visitor's browser.

  • Customer Mapping: Similar to the traffic tracking, you can view where all of your existing customers are geographically.

  • Code Signing: In the past customers would get annoying security warnings when downloading executable files (such as the remote desktop .exe) through ReadyDesk. Now with the code signing feature, your customers can be sure the files they download are safe. By default the system will use our signing certificate, but you can add your own to display yourself as the publisher.

  • New Portal Layout Option: We have added a new layout option for the customer portal called "Row". The traditional layout was known as "Block". The new Row layout displays the customer sections and items in the customer portal in vertical rows, rather than block sections.

  • Real-Time Chat Translations: If you have customers that speak a different language than your technicians, then you will love this feature. Using the Google Translate API, both customers and technicians can chat in their native language, and it will automatically be converted to the other parties language. There is currently support for 64 languages. This feature uses the Google Translate API paid service.

  • Pop-Out Layers: There are many features in the technician interface that open in pop-up layers. Technicians will now have the option of opening these layers to a new window so they can perform multiple tasks at the same time.
